Although not religious myself, I do so enjoy any holiday that involves the hide-and-seek of baskets filled with candy and fake grass. Especially when said baskets contain some Cadbury's Creme Eggs.
It has, however, been the worst Easter ever as BHjr and I are the only two at home and he's not the most scintillating of conversationalists. Plus I talked to Mother yesterday and she sounded really depressed and on the verge of tears. On top of it all, BH has disappeared; he's not picking up his cell or answering emails. I had some really gross cheesey fries for dinner and have been drinking an obscene number of cans of Diet Coke (even for me). It hasn't been the most nutritions of days. Mostly I'm bored and trying to work up the enthusiasm to watch the second season of Heroes. I've seen the first three or four episodes, but don't remember them well enough to move on ahead which means I have to rewatch them. *Sigh*
I loved the origin stories! Normally I'm not such a huge fan - probably because Angel's origin story during the second season of Buffy (Becoming (Part 1), I think) was terribly boring and put me off the entire idea. The tough as nails lesbians were unexpected and surprisingly interesting, although I was less enthusiastic about Jack's sideburns during that period.
And Tosh was arrested by UNIT! I felt for her in that little cell, worried about her mother. I understand better why she's so loyal to Jack - I'd follow him to hell if he'd rescued me from a life in that place. I'd like to see Tosh's mother again, if only because I'm always interested in a character's family.
It's impossible to decide whether I loved Tosh or Ianto's story more. Ianto hounding Jack and then giving him a dinosaur was great fun. Not to mention Ianto in casual clothes! His face as he walked away from Jack in the warehouse was heartbreaking. Like he was betraying Lisa just by even contemplating attraction to another person.
Owen's was the only story that I didn't immediately like. Using the lost love plot device as a reason for his asshole ways and to explain his reluctance to commit to a relationship seems like a cop out. For some reason it's just a little disappointing.
Finally, Captain John! I think I very much like the idea that the Captain's torturing and killing people Jack loves because the latter won't give him the time of day. It's crazy and sociopathic and brilliant.
